How it started

Ventus Energy started active operations in September 2024.
Within less than a year, the company became one of the fastest-growing success stories in the European P2P industry. A rapidly growing lender community enabled the company to accelerate the acquisition, development, and execution of multiple energy infrastructure projects already in the pipeline.
During the summer of 2025, the first indications emerged that a coordinated campaign against Ventus Energy might be developing.
One of Ventus Energy’s founders, Jānis Timma, received unofficial information suggesting that a campaign targeting Ventus Energy was being prepared. According to the information received, the planned activities would involve a German lawyer, a blogger who would publicly discuss various “findings” related to Ventus Energy and complaints submitted to multiple financial regulators, including BaFin.
Around the same period, one of Ventus Energy’s partners also began receiving threatening and warning-type e-mail letters from anonymous senders using INBOX.lv e-mail accounts. Allegedly, Spanish and German guys using inbox.lv have heard local oligarchs in restaurants speaking about how JT has pushed to repay some debts on Crowdestor. The messages stated that Ventus Energy will be “destroyed”, that a serious budget has been allocated and that individuals or companies that partner with Ventus will also face consequences. Proof has been added to the criminal investigation materials.
At the time, these incidents appeared fragmented and difficult to connect, and we felt that anonymous messages were intended only to intimidate us.
However, over the following months, the first visible signs of a broader, increasingly coordinated campaign targeting Ventus Energy began to emerge publicly.
Later, from unrelated sources, we were told that the initial budget was EUR 250,000 for the “media murder” of Ventus, and that an additional EUR 100,000 was later offered to further damage the business.
